So can i just go to the local credit union and apply for a secure credit card, like say $300.00 and even if?

i have a score of 575 if give them that cash, they would have to approve me for 300 dollars worth of credit, right?? then that would build my credit if i payed off balance monthly, and i would be on my way then... to bigger and better things.
